Weighted Shawl

from $57.00

Throughout the years of making weighted Items I found that many children did not like weighted vests. The reason seemed to be that while they wanted the weight on their shoulders, they did not like the pressure around their torso. So I created a weighted shawl. Because the shawl's weight is on the shoulders I recommend using less weight than is described in the standard formula of 10% of body plus 1lb.

Here are my recommendations*

20 to 35lb child - 2lb
40 to 55lb child - 4lb
60 to 75lb child - 6lb
80 to 135lb child or adult - 8lb
over 135lb - 10lb

In the photos** the prints are only examples of the weighted shawls I have on hand at the shop. You can pick a print you would like. I suggest naming three iseas of prints you would like in the note section as you complete the order. I will look for print to match your request and send you photos so you can choose the print you like best.

*These are just my recommendations, if your or your child's OT feels you or your child need more weight, that is OK. My recommendations come from the responses of those that have tried the weighted shawls on in my shop but your OT knows you and/or your child better.

**Please ignore the "I have to model something again" look by my 9yo, he had had a long day that day.
